A Christmas Carol

Russell Library presents A Christmas Carol, performed by the East Haddam Stage Company in the library's historic Reading Room.

Celebrate the season by spending an enchanting evening with Ebenezer Scrooge and the Christmas Ghosts that help him find the meaning of the holiday. This magical and ethereal adaptation of Charles Dickens' beloved Christmas classic is a must-see!

This version of A Christmas Carol was written specifically to be performed in Russell Library. The author takes advantage of the balconies and ramps and multiple entry and exit points to bring actors in from all around the audience. You never know where a ghost will appear! 

The magical quality of the show hearkens back to the spirit of the age when Dickens lived and wrote, which coincided with the years our building was a church. The building itself inspired this very special retelling; it’s gothic style and soaring spaces are perfect for this classic holiday ghost story.
