Best of Boston Comedy Festival!
Stand-Up Comedy
Laughs will be abundant as the Best of the Boston Comedy Festival returns to the Kate. Each year, the Festival brings in the best of the best in a weekend festival in Boston, and then they send some of the best down to Old Saybrook to take the stage at the Kate.
Jim McCue (Dec 30 & 31)
A mixture of witty “A-list material” and his ability to work off-script has earned Jim McCue the title “Boston’s King of Crowd Work!” It’s not only his height of six foot six that makes Jim stand head and shoulders above club comedians of the “stick-to-the-script” variety. Jim blends thought-provoking material and uncanny improv …
Jim McCue went viral with his DryBar special “nothing personal” which has had over 4 million viewers, Jim has been featured on Comedy Central, Comcast Comedy Spotlight, NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” RedEye on Fox news, Live at Gotham AXS. Jim has toured the globe Entertaining our troops and wrote a book called Embedded Comedian describing some of his adventures.
Joey Carroll (Dec 30 & 31)
Joey Carroll is a Boston favorite who has been described as a cross between George Carlin and Dennis Miller. His no holds barred style has earned him a spot at the Montreal Comedy Festival and on Comedy Central’s Pulp Comics. Carroll is a regular working in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and cruise ships. Carroll’s ‘set up and punch’ style keeps crowds on their toes as he discusses politics, growing up in Boston, and ‘his Uncle Chuck.’ For the past five years, Carroll has toured the Middle East war zones entertaining U.S. troops in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other countries where US servicemen and women are serving.
Jesse Farris (Dec 30)
Shut-in by day, lukewarm comedian by night, Jesse Farris has been performing stand-up comedy around Boston since the age of seventeen. Having recently moved back to town with a Master’s in English Literature and few prospects on the job market, she’s relying on her humor to stay financially afloat. Her sharp, “off-kilter” wit has been known to delight audiences and concern doctors everywhere (she never quite healed from that second concussion). Some of the stages she’s been on include The Rockwell, The Comedy Studio, and The Rex Theatre.
Rhonda Corey (Dec 31)
Comedian Rhonda Corey truly embodies the New England spirit. It's no wonder that her authenticity with a twist of lovable sass has resonated with audiences from Rhode Island to California! She is the winner of "The Clean Comedy Challenge 2018" and the producer and host of the Live Stream sensation, "Talk is Cheap". She recently recorded her DryBar Special which will be released in 2022.
