Belonging: A Celebration in Song

The Amelia Classical Music Series presents Belonging: A Celebration in Song as part of West Hartford’s 250th anniversary commemoration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

​Through music — one of the most powerful expressions of identity and hope — this program reflects on the many journeys that lead people to call a place home. Founded in West Hartford by immigrant soprano and Artistic Director Zhanna Alkhazova, ACMS offers an evening honoring heritage, resilience, and community.

Featuring an all-female ensemble of acclaimed vocalists — Meredith Hansen (Metropolitan Opera), Madison Marie McIntosh (Florida Grand Opera), and Zhanna Alkhazova (Sarasota Opera) — the program pairs beloved arias by Puccini and Verdi with American songs shaped by diverse cultural traditions. Together, these works explore longing, courage, devotion, and the search for belonging.

 Through the power of the human voice, this concert celebrates the stories that unite us — and the community continually shaped by those who bring their voices, history, and dreams to its song.
