learn more

The Archaeological Society of Connecticut will hold it's Spring meeting, open to the public, on May 16th, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, at the First Congregational Church in Ridgefield, located at 103 Main Street.

This year, in keeping with the semiquincentennial celebration of our Nation’s birth, we have elected to hold our Spring meeting in Ridgefield, the site of one of only two inland battles in Connecticut during the War for Independence.   We have assembled a slate of speakers who will present about the archaeology of American Revolution in Connecticut, including Rochambeau’s march through Connecticut, the encampment at Redding, the Battle of Ridgefield, and other engagements, forts, and sites within our state and region from this pivotal moment in American history. Attendees will also have time to participate in a walking tour of the Battle of Ridgefield, led by Dr. Kevin McBride and Historian Keith Jones.

Admission

Admission to the meeting will be $15 for non-members, $10 for Archaeological Society of Connecticut or Friends of the Office of State Archaeology members, and $8 for students.
