New exhibition announcement! "Alexey von Schlippe: Expressions of Mind and Soul" opens as a new exhibition at Slater Memorial Museum.
Slater Museum is pleased to present, "Alexey von Schlippe: Expressions of Mind and Soul," opening on July 29! This ongoing exhibition will be the newest addition to the museum's permanent galleries, showcasing the works of renowned educator and artist, Alexey von Schlippe. Von Schlippe lived in Norwich for many years, teaching at the Norwich Art School in the 1950s and '60s before being appointed as a Professor at the University of Connecticut. The Alexey von Schlippe Gallery of Art at UConn Avery Point was named in his honor after his passing in 1988.
In this exhibition, nearly two dozen of his works will be on view - many of these pieces have never been publicly displayed before! A mix of landscapes and portraits tells a captivating story of an artist's inspiration and fascination with how human beings communicate using art as a medium.
