In celebration of the country’s semiquincentennial, About Face: 250 Years of American Portraits explores American history through the images and experiences of diverse Americans. This exhibition both elaborates on and challenges the role of portraiture in asserting identity, navigating citizenship, and expressing belonging. Featuring portraits from 250 years of American life, this exhibition speaks to the importance of portraiture as mode of artistic, political, and cultural expression throughout American history.

Blue Star Museum (year round)
Free admission for those currently serving in the United States Military—Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, and Space Force, members of the Reserves, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps, and up to five family members. Qualified members must show a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), DD Form 1173-1 ID card or the Next Generation Uniformed Services (Real) ID card. Waterbury Students Free (through December 31, 2026)
Free admission for Waterbury Public Schools students through the generosity of Hubbard-Hall and the Kellogg Family.
