2026 Spring Flower Show
The Fairfield Garden Club is pleased to announce its 2026 Spring Flower Show, an endeavor by its 150+ club members to share with the community what it does best: garden, create and advocate. Themed “Home Sweet Home: Back to Nature,” the free, two-day exhibition will be held on May 1st and 2nd at the Fairfield University Bookstore.
Inspired by Mabel Osgood Wright, first president of The Fairfield Garden Club in 1915, “Home Sweet Home, Back to Nature” hopes to foster an appreciation of nature’s beauty. For 110 years, the club has continued to support the legacy of Wright, whose movement helped shape America's environmental consciousness at the turn of the 20th century. She is honored in the “Home Sweet Home” Flower Show Schedule with her timely quotes from The Friendship of Nature: A New England Chronicle of Birds and Flowers, originally published in 1894. Her words, rooted in a deep appreciation for the natural world, remind us to slow down and cherish the beauty around us.
“We are very excited to welcome local Fairfield residents and visitors to what is sure to be an inspiring and insightful show – our first in a full decade,” says The Fairfield Garden Club President Sherry Rago. “Beyond the competitive work that will be showcased, I also appreciate the opportunity to shine a spotlight on the projects and programs our club commits to on behalf of our town.”
Part of the Garden Club of America, a nationwide organization encompassing 200 clubs and approximately 18,000 members, The Fairfield Garden Club’s mission is to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening, protect natural resources, and encourage conservation and civic improvement through educational programs and community interaction.
The purpose of the flower show is threefold: to set standards of artistic and horticultural excellence; to broaden knowledge of horticulture, floral design, conservation, photography and other related areas; and to share the beauty of a show with fellow club members and with the public.
Divisions will include:
- Horticulture
- Floral Design
