Pickleball is Connecticut’s hottest sport — and it’s the fastest-growing sport in the nation for the 5th consecutive year in a row. According to the Association of Pickleball Professionals, 48.3 million U.S. adults have played at least one game in the last 12 months. So, it's no wonder about 145 pickleball courts have popped up in Connecticut!
“There are so many reasons why Pickleball is the fastest growing sport. It's social, family-friendly, multi-generational, and has even addressed mental health for many people because it's so community-focused," says Pickleball America founder Mia Schipani.
This community-centric, multi-generational sport is taking the state by storm.
"The tight-knit pickleball community in CT embraces the inclusive nature of this sport and makes playing here truly special. Whether you're a seasoned player or a newcomer, Connecticut's pickleball scene boasts great competition, fosters friendships, and creates an experience that stands out in the world of sports." — Jessica Coughlin, PPR certified coach, @thatpickleballgirl1

Big-Deal Pickleball Destinations
Connecticut’s first pickleball facility, Oxford Pickleball, opened in 2018. And since, many amazing pickleball destinations have popped up.
That list includes one of the largest indoor pickleball venues in the U.S., Pickleball America, located in Stamford. The first of its kind. Pickleball America was internationally recognized for pioneering and repurposing a former 80,000 square foot retail store into a “Sportstainment” community that offers family-friendly programs, clinics, and leagues for all skills and aged players. Pickleball America is also shaking things up with unique collaborations, offering activities that join pickleball with everything from Pilates and yoga to chess and even a children’s STEAM program.
PPR certified coach Jessica Coughlin recommends, "Harrison Park in Wallingford has a special place in my heart as one of the first pickleball parks I visited regularly in the early stages of my pickleball days; and the community you'll find here is so, so welcoming. As for indoor courts, keep an eye out for Camp Pickleball, opening this summer in Plainville."
Camp Pickleball is bringing the sport to the Greater Hartford region, offering lessons, memberships, leagues, and open play in their premier indoor facility. Expect LED indirect lighting for optimal play, 25-foot ceilings, a practice court and drilling wall, and much more.
And coming fall of 2024, another one of the largest dedicated pickleball facilities in all the U.S. is being launched right here in Connecticut. Pickleball Park, a 65,000 square foot facility, will offer twenty competition-sized cushioned pickleball courts, including a spectator-focused Center Court, 11 indoor courts, and eight additional open-air courts. Plus, look forward to a two-story Club House with a café serving food and beverages including beer and wine, a fitness center and fitness studio, a Pro Shop, and more.
