Cut or Pick Your Own Christmas Tree & More in Fairfield County!

Exactly when does that joyful holiday spirit really kick in? That’s easy – when you bring home the Christmas Tree! So why not make a memorable day of it by visiting a local tree farm and cutting your own? Find out which species provide the perfect color, branch strength, needle retention, and aroma for your home. Each farm adds its own special touches – like cider and hot chocolate, hayrides, and visits from Santa. So, bundle up, grab the kids and your pup (on a leash) and rev up the holidays at a Connecticut Christmas Tree Farm in Fairfield County. Since some farms run out of trees and/or close early for the season, check their website before you head out.

Easton

Founded in 1769, Maple Row Farm offers hayrides through more than 200 acres featuring nine hearty species. You can also select a pre-cut tree, wreath, and garland from their fresh stock. When you've found your perfect tree, stop in for some hot cocoa and snacks while the staff give a complimentary tree wrapping. Don’t miss the giant oxen (well, given their size, it would be hard to!). Tailgaters are also welcome.

Nearby, Sabia Tree Farm offers not only lovingly cared-for Christmas trees, but also handmade wreaths and gifts from local vendors, including glass ornaments, handmade candles and luminaries, rustic signs, and even Vermont Maple Syrup! If you find yourself getting a bit too cold, head inside and warm up by the fire.

Another option in Easton is Ganim Tree Farm opening on November 28 this year. The farm features Premium-Grade Canadian Fraser fir pre-cut trees (7-8 ft. tall) and grows native blue, white, and Norway spruces. They also sell tree stands, hot chocolate, and cookies in their farm store and are a cash or check-only business. Hand saws are provided for cutting.

And at Silverman’s Farm, you can browse through their spectacular greenhouse for beautiful poinsettias, decorated country wreaths, ribbons, garlands, and holiday gifts. Their Christmas trees are freshly cut for superb needle retention and aroma. Douglas Fir and Concolor Fir trees of various sizes are available. Fraser Fir Christmas Trees are sized from tabletop to 12 feet (while supplies last). As your tree is being loaded by the farm elves, warm up with some complimentary hot mulled cider.

Shelton

Combine Christmas tree hunting and wine tasting at Jones Family Farm in Shelton. You and your family can explore acres upon acres of trees, and each family will take home a complimentary keepsake pewter ornament.

Another option is Fairview Tree Farm. Starting November 29 and continuing until just before Christmas, you can hunt for the perfect tree and have it wrapped, loaded, and tied onto your car. Don’t miss the Christmas Shoppe for a selection of unique ornaments and décor. And kids will love the Night of Lights Merry Christmas Hayride, a magical trip through the farm with dazzling holiday lights, tasty treats, and visits from Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the Grinch.

And check out Wells Hollow Farm, where it's always the most wonderful time of the year. Many beautiful wreaths cover the barns, and the farm offers a lot more than just Christmas trees: holiday wreaths, garland, planters, decorations, and more.

Newtown

At the picturesque five generation Castle Hill Farm (aka Paproski’s Tree Farm), you can sip some cider while you choose and cut your own tree, starting the weekend after Thanksgiving. If doing the cutting isn't your thing, you can pick from their array of pre-cut stock instead. You can also take home some hand-made wreaths, sprays, swag, blankets, boxes and more.

Family owned and operated for over 50 years, you can pick from a selection of blue spruce, white spruce, and douglas fir at the nearby Sam's Tree Farm. There's no need to bring much equipment - the farm provides saws, netting, and twine.

Westport

Grab a saw and stroll through a flat 12-acre plantation at H. Smith Richardson Christmas Tree Farm to find a Douglas Fir, White Spruce, or Blue Spruce with your name written all over it. Pre-cut trees, wreaths, decorations, and tree wrappings are available. A portion of proceeds benefit the Connecticut Audubon Conservation and Education Programs.
