Celebrate July 4th and America's 250th in Connecticut

As America celebrates its 250th anniversary on July 4, Connecticut cities and towns will mark this national milestone with exciting commemorative events and celebrations - and of course, fireworks will light up the sky!

From the coastline to the countryside, we've compiled a list of where to find the most popular fireworks shows this summer. All displays are weather permitting; please check ahead.

Greenwich's 250th Celebration, June 28

Greenwich will host a signature America 250 celebration when the 160-foot Dutch tall ship Oosterschelde sails into Greenwich Harbor and docks at the Delamar Hotel. The ship will be open to the public on Sunday, June 28, before departing for New York City to participate in the international Tall Ships Parade on July 4.

Open to the public on Sunday, June 28, and presented by the Greenwich Historical Society, the day will feature a family-friendly celebration at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park featuring free ship boarding and tours, a recreated Colonial Village with costumed Revolutionary-era reenactments, living history encampments, a musical journey through American history, and a Salute to Veterans.

Celebrate America! with Hartford Symphony Orchestra, Simsbury, July 3

The HSO presents its annual “Celebrate America!” concert at the Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center, led by Hartford Symphony Orchestra Music Director Carolyn Kuan. Joining the orchestra for this special occasion are members from the Hartford Chorale. The concert will feature patriotic classics such as Battle Hymn of the Republic, God Bless America, Stars and Stripes Forever, and the Armed Forces Salute. The night wouldn’t be complete without fireworks!

Hartford Bonanza 2026 + America 250, Hartford, July 4

Hartford Bonanza, the Connecticut capital city's Independence Day festival featuring the region's biggest fireworks display, is a free celebration of community and culture through music, art, civic pride, food trucks, recreation, and creative connections. This year, the festival also serves as our statewide commemoration & celebration of American independence with an epic program on two stages, interactive exhibition spaces, activity zones, and diverse history tours to meet the America 250 moment on the Fourth of July in 2026. 

Willimantic Boom Box Parade, Willimantic, July 4

The 41st annual Boom Box Parade, a time-honored Willimantic July 4 tradition, will be followed by a large-scale community celebration honoring the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Enjoy live music, interactive history and re-enactments, food, games, contests, special guests, and multimedia presentations.

Enfield Fourth of July Celebration, Enfield, July 10-12

The town celebrates 250 years of American history with a parade, live music and entertainment, food, races, games, and much more, ending in with a grand finale of fireworks on Sunday night. 

James Dutch Fogarty Independence Day Celebration, Manchester, July 11

The town of Manchester celebrates the 250th anniversary of America's independence with live entertainment and music, food trucks and local vendors, family-friendly activities and games, and a grand fireworks display at dusk.
