Celebrate Connecticut Open House Day in Windham County 2025

It's the 21st anniversary of Connecticut Open House Day! That's twenty one years of celebrating the unique array of attractions that make the state so special. Check out what Windham County has to offer.

Black Sun Farm, Danielson

Open House at Black Sun Farm from 10am-3pm! Mini foraging walks for small groups, herbal tea sampling bar, and 10% off all herbal remedy products for the day. Explore how the wild can feed you!

Brooklyn Meeting House of 1771, Brooklyn

The 1771 Congregational-Unitarian meeting house is now over 250 years old.  General Israel Putnam of Revolutionary War fame led the movement to build it.  Seriously damaged in the 1938 hurricane, it was mostly restored to its colonial grandeur between 1961 and 2007.  The Rev. Samuel May led social reform efforts there (peace, education, temperance, antislavery) from 1821 to 1836. Celia Burleigh became a minister there in 1871, in Connecticut's first ordination of a woman. Free admission. Hours: 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. 7 Canterbury Road at Hartford Rd. on Green. Parking onsite and at nearby churches.

Finnish American Heritage Society and Museum, Canterbury

Tour the historic Finnish Hall and Heritage Museum. Learn about our weaving and wood carving groups. Enjoy Finnish music and light refreshments. Participate in a community mural painting activity on the side of our authentic Finnish sauna. (Wear your painting clothes!)
