Hockey: Connecticut’s Hat Trick
Connecticut has three professional squads that face off against tough competition on the ice: the American Hockey League Hartford Wolf Pack and Bridgeport Islanders, and the National Women’s Hockey League Connecticut Whale.
The Hartford Wolf Pack bares its teeth as the top affiliate of the NHL New York Rangers.
Watch the Battle of Connecticut as the Pack confronts their archrivals, the Bridgeport Islanders, affiliates of the NHL New York Islanders. This fan-favorite grudge match pits the two teams against each other. Be there for the hottest game on ice!
The hard-charging women of the Connecticut Whale bring the action to the International Skating Center of Connecticut in Simsbury. Goaltender Sonjia Shelly joins the team after a stellar four-year collegiate career playing for St. Lawrence University.
Basketball: The Stars Shine as the Sun Takes the Court
The WNBA Connecticut Sun frequently advance to playoffs, just one reason crowds at the Mohegan Sun Arena go wild when the team hits the hardwood. Fans have followed UConn favorites, including Morgan Tuck, on a roster that showcases some of the top talent in The W. Head to Uncasville and watch the team Burn It Down.
And don't miss the legendary basketball teams at UConn!
Soccer with the Hartford Athletic: More than a Game, a Movement
The world goes crazy for soccer, and in 2019, Connecticut launched its new team in the game. The first time the Hartford Athletic took the field, 11,000 cheering fans roared their approval. Then, in the first match at their new home, Dillon Stadium, the team played before a sold-out crowd—even though the venue’s renovations were still under way!
The Hartford Athletic is here to turn a community into a movement: passionate, positive and united. Head coach Jimmy Nielsen has come from the Oklahoma City Energy Football Club to lead the charge. One of the goals the team is here to achieve: creating opportunities for Connecticut youth.
So put on your blue-and-green pride and watch world-class action!
Baseball: All-American Sport, All over Connecticut
The Hartford Yard Goats play ball in Dunkin’ Donuts Park, voted the Best AA Ballpark two years in a row. The Goats are #1 in the Eastern League for attendance, so all 6,000 seats sell out fast.
The Norwich Sea Unicorns make their den in Norwich at Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium. This Short-Season A-class affiliate of the Detroit Tigers plays in the New York-Penn League.
The Atlantic League New Britain Bees boast a roster that includes many former MLB players. That includes New Britain native and former MLB pitcher Mauro Gozzo as field manager. Mascot Sting leads the cheers at New Britain Stadium.
