







Celebrate Connecticut Open House Day in New Haven County 2025
It's the 21st anniversary of Connecticut Open House Day! That's twenty one years of celebrating the unique array of attractions that make the state so special. Check out what New Haven County has to offer.

Allis-Bushnell House Museum, Madison
The Madison Historical Society invites you to take a walk back in time at its Allis-Bushnell House Museum, a landmark of Madison’s downtown since 1785. From 11 am to 2 pm, at no charge, guests can stroll through the parlor, tearoom, dining room, hearth kitchen, and special maritime exhibit in the annex. Come discover the treasured artworks and artifacts displayed throughout the house. Refreshments will be offered.

Barker Character, Comic and Cartoon Museum, Cheshire
Enjoy complimentary admission to the Barker Character, Comic and Cartoon Museum and get ready to take a trip down 'Memory Lane'!
Featuring a private collection of over 80,000 toys, collectibles, and memorabilia; it does not matter if you're a child, or just a child at heart, get ready for an afternoon filled with laughter and joy as we celebrate over 100 years of play!

Cheshire Historical Society Open House Day, Cheshire
Free tours through our house museum will grant you a picture into the home and lives of Cheshire's noteworthy families: the Hitchcock's and Phillip's as well as local town history and stories. Additional attractions will include display's and discussions about Flag Day and the different flags America has flown over it's history, kid friendly arts and crafts activities, and a discussion and demonstration of Native American fire starting techniques.

Darling Farmstead and History Museum, Woodbridge
The volunteers of the Amity and Woodbridge Historical Society will host an open house at the Darling Farmstead and History Museum on Saturday June 14, from 2 to 4 PM. There will be kids activities, free tours and light refreshments. Please join us.

Dudley Farm Museum, Guilford
Visit the Dudley Farm Museum and tour a 19th century farmhouse, barns and a museum on the Quinnipiac people, explore ten picturesque acres and peruse the farmer's market. Tours are free for Open House Day!

Harrison House, Branford
Visit the Branford Historical Society's Harrison House; built in 1724, the Harrison House boasts a colonial house, barn, and historical garden maintained by the Branford Garden Club. Learn about colonial life in Branford and explore artifacts from Branford's history. Tours are free for Open House Day!

Henry Whitfield State Museum, Guilford
Enjoy free admission to explore the complex and layered history of nearly 400 years through the evolution of the Whitfield House. You can also tour the archaeology exhibit "History Beneath Our Feet" featuring highlights discovered by Southern Connecticut State University's Archaeology Field School.

Jonathan Dickerman House, Hamden
This historical site, opposite Sleeping Giant State Park and maintained by the Hamden Historical Society, presents an opportunity to enjoy a docented tour of the 1790 Jonathan Dickerman House and the 1810 Talmadge Cider Mill.

Lost in New Haven, New Haven
Lost in New Haven is a new museum, cultural center, and event space that promotes community learning and engagement by offering an immersive experience at the intersection of art, history, and culture to educate, inspire, and enrich our understanding of history and ourselves. This remarkable collection of artifacts tells the story of the creativity and ingenuity of New Haveners over the past 400 years. For Connecticut Open House Day we are offering reduced admission during opening hours: 11-5:00 $10/person (normally $25/adults and $15/students).

Mattatuck Museum, Waterbury
Join the Mattatuck Museum for CT Open House Day 2025 with free admission and a day of creativity! Participate in a Storytime, Kid's Art Workshop, or Intermediate Art workshop, then explore The Art of Elizabeth Catlett: From the Collection of Samella Lewis & The Art of Leisure before they close on June 15! Be one of the first visitors to see our brand new and final chapter of our Conversations with O'Keeffe series.

Medad Stone Tavern, Guilford
The Medad Stone Tavern is a Dutch gambrel-style fourteen-room, ten-fireplace tavern built in 1803 by Medad Stone. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the property includes ten acres, a barn, a corncrib, and a garage. Owned by the Guilford Keeping Society, the tavern welcomes visitors from June through September and is available to rent for events.
Meriden Historical Society, Inc., Meriden
The museum has three galleries ope pertaining to local history, Polished Perspectives: The Art of International Silver, Industry and Innovation: Meriden's Golden Age and Quills to Clicks: The Evolution of News in Meriden. In addition,there is a scavenger hunt to complete for entry into a raffle for some great prizes.

Osborne Homestead Museum, Derby
Go on an architecture quest at the Osborne Homestead Museum in Derby on Saturday, June 14th, from 10:00AM to 4:00PM! Get the quest booklet from the museum or download the digital quest app and start the journey. The quest will test your knowledge of architectural features of the museum. After passing each level, winners will get a prize at the end. This is a free event. Stone Schoolhouse and Center School Museums, Wolcott
Our history museums include a variety of local history displays that cover farm life, education, patriots of wars and artifacts that were used during these historic times. Our 224 year old Stone School serves as a focus on education. We will offer free history coloring books, self-guided brochures on historic sites and history book marks.

The Shore Line Trolley Museum, East Haven

Thomas Griswold House, Guilford
The Thomas Griswold House, 171 Boston Street in Guilford, CT, is owned by the Guilford Keeping Society and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum includes the late 18th century period New England saltbox house, a historic blacksmith shop, a barn with farm tools and implements, two corn cribs, and a Victorian-era three-seat privy. The museum is open seasonally from June through October.
Town of Dreamers, City of Invention, Naugatuck
The Naugatuck History Museum's exhibit, "Town of Dreamers, City of Invention" tells the story of Naugatuck's rise from a small manufacturing village to a center of industrial might. The Tuttle House is the backdrop for this exhibit. It is listed on the national register of historic places. This 1882 mansion provides authentic spaces for telling the story of invention and enterprise that created employment for many and great wealth for the few.
