Be A Part Of Breathtaking Performances Across The State This Weekend In Connecticut

Heat up the weekend up by attending some of the great performances in theatre and music that Connecticut has to offer. Friday through Sunday, the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford will host the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra, directed by Edward Cumming will play pieces from Beethoven, Haydn, Vaughn Williams and Gabrielli, including Beethoven’s famous Symphony No. 2. On Saturday, visit the First Congregational Church in Branford to see the Branford Folk Music Society. The concert will feature Bob Zentz, a popular performer whose talents include a smorgasbord of contemporary, traditional and original songs that showcase his artistry. With a sound that is all his own, Zentz' performance promises to be special for the entire family. On Saturday and Sunday, the Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University will host performances of “La Rondine.” Directed by Nicholas Joel, this look at love is performed by Angela Gheorghiu and Roberto Alagna and provides a collection of memorable moments that will not soon be forgotten by audiences. If you’re into the classic film turned Broadway musical “Footloose”, then head to the Garde Art Center in New London as they host their own production of this popular story. In a small town where dancing and rock music is banned, a newcomer from the city teaches his classmates that the very things they are not supposed to do can be the most fun.
